Modern supersititions

In a TV series presented by a prominent biologyst, all alternative arts, including therapies, energy healing, astrology etc. were branded as 'superstition' as opposed to othodox science. But I my self is more wary of a different type of superstition.
What about all the over-priced cosmetic products which promise yonger looks to women who are desperate to avoid looking old or even middle-aged? The toxic injection that women can have on their forehead to freeze their skin so that they won't grow wrinkles? Various cosmetic surgery to help women look younger or slimmer? I remember watching a programme on TV about women who've gone to the limits of finances to undergo treatment or surgeries of all manners in order to look younger than their actual age. The presenter herself, who's done the same, commented with such bitterness, 'We've gone through all these hassle to make oursevles look young, and yet society still doesn't look on us as young women. That's really unfair!'
All I can say is ''That's the lot for us mortals''! Every one, man or woman, and every creature gets old. That's the natural law. Being young is not something skin-deep; having a younger-looking face with less wrinkles doesn't actually make one youthfull. Youthfullness comes from inside and can be felt in each single cell of the body. In the same programme there was one women in her sixties who'd had an expensive face-lift done which made her look perhaps 10 years younger than her age. But her neck, arms and hands, the rest of the body still looks her actual age, old in other words. I bet she doesn't gain an ounce more vitality out of that artificial face either.
There are alternative ways of staying youthfull for longer such as through Tai Chi and Chi Kung. But few people want that because it requires self-discipline, time and effort. People want something fake but gives quick result at all costs. Such desperation has been targeted by businessmen, scientists and doctors as perfect opportunity to grow their business and bank accounts. Is this not 'superstition'?
