Your Feet - how important they are

This title might sound odd, but I don't think most people realize that their feet are worth far more credit than just a tool for carrying them where they want to go. I myself spend about 1 hour daily before bedtime caring for my feet - soaking them in a tub of hot water before applying massage oil to them and giving them reflexology treatment (self-massage). Call me a freak if you like but you might hesitate to do so once I've revealed one or two secrets about feet.
At the centre of your sole lies a crucial accu-pressure point called Yong Quan (meaning 'bubbling spring'). Through this point the Chi (life force) of the human body is connected with the earth energy. Good earth energy is essential for the balance in the microcosm of the human body. But in an average adult, this Bubbling Spring point is much closed up due to tension accumulated in the feet and poor Chi and blood circulation resulted from it. Luckily all is not lost, there are measures to take to re-open the bubbling spring points on your feet. Soaking the feet in tub of hot water daily (before bedtime) is a good starting point - this help relax the tensions in the feet and improve Chi and blood circulation in them. You'll fee revived especially after a hard day's work. If you can give them a good massage with oil afterwards, that's even better. If you can keep your feet warm, soft and healthy, you will stay healthy and youthful. 'Aging starts from the feet', as the Chinese saying goes.
All this might sound strange to a Westerner, but if I remember correctly, there is hint as to the importance of feet in the Bible - the courtesan who annointed the feet of Jesus with ointment before kissing them (one chapter in the New Testament). In the East, feet worship is a common ritual from disciples of a master or spiritual teacher. In all Buddhist scriptures, anyone who wished to pose a question to the Buddha would always touch his feet with the forehead to show respect and sincerity. Even todday, Hindus still do the same to their holy men. In Taoist internal alchemy practices, there're special exercised for openning up the bubbling spring points on the feet.
Of course in the West there is reflexology, but how many people can afford reflexology treatment on a daily basis. Luckily there are things one can do to look after one's own feet without having to go to a specialist. Care for your feet as you care for the roots of a plant and you'll soon notice the difference.
